Prepare to travel
It’s not going to be one of those years. Many past years started with excellent intentions. You bought the planner, you made a list, and you looked forward to the future. This year could have been guilty of that also. But it’s not going to be like every year behind us. We are going on a journey. An epic journey. You and me and whomever you want to drag along because oddly enough, we are all the same. We are all ordinary.
We have been trained to think of ourselves as special. And we are, all of us. The absolute basis of being a human being is our ordinary ability to be extraordinary. When you expand your comprehension of the meaning of ordinary, it encompasses the total package of being human. Our minds, bodies and souls have been gifted to us to use our superb preciousness in this world.
We have been trained that life will throw concerns at us to help us grow. And we do have what we believe are ups and downs. Those semi-loving individuals who indoctrinated us in the school of life wanted more for us and demonstrated it in the language they used to motivate us. Maybe because they wanted more. Who knows. At this point it is a moot point. We are moving on.
For the lessons we use this year to move from one point to another, we will use our own choices. You will hear mine and you can determine yours. Customized elements that will build a sturdier base and mean something. This week, read this intro over and pinky swear with yourself that you are with me. I want your ordinary self along for company, camaraderie, and community. At times, there may come moments to pick each other up. Being there for another human is not always easy. But being there for yourself when you feel alone is harder. Pack lightly.
You are Extraordinary!
Week 1: This one will start us off. Close your eyes in the quietest place you can find. Stay there for as long as you can stomach it. Did you notice anything at all?
This particular action felt like a good beginning to me. My ability to stay in a quiet place with my eyes closed really varies depending on what is going on around me. But I want to do it every day this week to see if I can stop rationalizing what is limiting it.
What about you?
