Go stand in a corner
Reflecting on the past often features quirky decisions. That trendy haircut, questionable friendships or weird requirements in routines. These were not profound decisions, just suitable at the time. Life often unfolds on autopilot using societal norms as guides. A shift in focus might have changed everything. Maybe that younger self could provide some advice to that up-and-coming self. Look into a mirror with your next self in mind. What hair style would befit that human? Seeking advice is often seen as a weakness. But adulting doesn’t magically bestow new powers. Forward looking perspectives polish aspirations. Envisioning a promising outcome allows the brain to plot a path to it. Visceral feelings alert you when something isn’t right. Ideas that resonate make music. Goals and plans that fizzle out can be disheartening but probably weren’t meant to be. Internal nudges work better to align with alternatives that will work. Life should reflect an internal light without empty promises. And your hair will look terrific.
Did you make that up?
Option #1: Can you look into the eyes of the you in the future?
Option #2: What vision of you is most intriguing?
Option #3: How can you fuel your future?
That’s it. After you choose the option that best describes envisioning the future, take a few minutes to describe why you chose that option and what action, if any, may come next.
