Willing or Able?
Gambling is frowned upon if it ends up costing too much. Humans are natural gamblers though. The ability to determine the risk of reward is a deeply seated mind flaw but has its own reason for existence. Humans would have never gotten off their butts without venturing out into the wilds. Bless those first capitalists. The wager was rewarded when those brave souls came back alive with full bellies and more knowledge of what was outside the cave walls. Most of us are willing to bet sometimes if the able part doesn’t seem like it would impose more pain. Traveling is an activity that can be fraught with lousy chances that is often outweighed by familial requirements or a willingness to put up with the whatever of what is going to happen along the way. After a good meal and a nap, all is filed as a past experience that can be a lesson for the next attempt. Love can be the same. The method humans choose to love can be based on proximity, physical desire, logistics or a thousand other rationalizations. All choices of a sort. The solidity of the feeling of love can only be determined by the person doing the loving. Love can be a high stakes venture for many of us. But what if love was the easiest thing to do? If the beating of a human heart was just regarded as the only real thing needed to make it overflow with love, could that lead to an outcome of humans all just loving as a matter of course? Perhaps we have moved too far away from the simplicity of what love really is. Maybe hearts are supposed to just beat out love to everyone. Since there is no manual on this subject, there is no way to be wrong. That’s a great way to choose.
Take Five
Each week this year, read through the suggestions and see how they call out to you.
- Put your hand on your heart and feel it beating.
- What is your preferred method to demonstrate love?
- Make a list of how many times you have found yourself in love.
- Could you be comfortable loving everyone you see?
- Describe what it takes to walk away from love.
Come back each day to see if something changes about the effect of an activity. Repeat choices to identify different thoughts. You are not the same person every day. Your life shouldn’t be either.
