Make a map
Where are you at?
Location is said to be important in real estate. But the importance relates to personal placement also. Humans move as they grow up, often changing venues with schools, jobs and desires. There are preferences due to weather and proximity to family. It is fortune that makes the final determination sometimes. Once in place, reflection on the setting where my head rests begins the evaluation. Humans like to know where they are, what they are doing and what it might take to remain or scoot away. We are nomads until we are not. That final resting spot is kinda nice to reach so the moving boxes can be recycled. When the mind spends more time on looking for a better address than enjoying a current place, that is a sign. The same scenario can help with other life obligations. Job satisfaction, exercise interest, hair length, food decisions and relationships all live at distinct places. Throughout life, the continuing expectation on making another decision after another decision after another decision becomes the sole constant until something becomes a big enough obstacle. Where you are when this occurs helps to determine what is chosen as the next location. But that method abandons real choice. If a relationship should end or a termination evaporates a job or resources get wasted, a new path looks like it is necessary, but if the opportunity is not acted on there may be a return to a precious complacency. Think carefully when lightning strikes. It lights up the sky.
Take Five
Each week this year, read through the suggestions and see how they call out to you.
- Where does your life live?
- How do you treat bumps in the road?
- Have you settled in life for a location?
- Do your relationships change with you or against you?
- When will you stop moving?
Come back each day to see if something changes about the effect of an activity. Repeat choices to identify different thoughts. You are not the same person every day. Your life shouldn’t be either.
