It’s not libel
You might fall through it
There are funny words for actions. Humans like to rationalize why things happen and it is helpful to determine why also. If the why is meant to stop a reoccurrence that is one thing. If the why is just to consider how to explain away the reason for the action, that is another thing. Lawyers like loopholes because they give them an out. They are the prenup of stuff that happens. But the very nature of a hole is that its bottom may not be a place you want to go. Or you might have to fill it up. Or it is lonely, cold or dirty. It’s a hole. It’s not a mansion. But a way out of situations becomes essential when there is danger. That’s the whole premise of Indiana Jones. He really doesn’t really need just to find those treasures after he understands the danger he is in. He wants to find his way out of something he wasn’t counting on. A dilemma. It can feel successful if you are able to find a loophole for a touchy scenario. Humans don’t like to be crushed by oncoming boulders. These are usually fast responses but can also be well-thought-out actions if the danger has been ongoing or you are already waist deep in a real hole. The best case is to carry some rope or planks or something that will help get you past the hole. Sometimes the truth works or sometimes partial truths work. Just don’t fib to yourself. You got there somehow.
Take Five
Each week this year, read through the suggestions and see how they call out to you.
- What way can you dodge the awful truth?
- How much impact does a dangerous claim have on you?
- How do you feel when you have to scramble for the truth?
- What rationalization are you currently working on?
- Does listening to your own theme music give you courage?
Come back each day to see if something changes about the effect of an activity. Repeat choices to identify different thoughts. You are not the same person every day. Your life shouldn’t be either.
