Put your toys away
Possessions
The actual list of what really belongs to us is short. This is not the list of stuff we purchase along the way in life to have fun, or wear or improve lives. It also does not involve those items bought to impress anyone else of your love and devotion. Things can’t do that. They are fun and are a good sign that you were remembered but they aren’t necessarily a part of your core life. In your personal vault you can store what you really can call your own. You might not need much room. That leads to thoughts about what we really own. Really. This is different for all of us. The most precious possessions don’t get listed on wills late in life. They usually don’t even get noticed until well after they were broken, given away or discarded. Looking back may lead to thinking that they weren’t really needed but that is not the point. They were an essential part of the process of living. Just because they aren’t useful forever does not make them less favored. If you think you would enjoy playing with that same toy you loved from your childhood that you see listed at five times the original price, you are really just loving the memory of the priceless time you spent early on in life with it. Just enjoy the picture of it. You don’t need another old toy.
It’s all mine
Option #1: Do you miss owning anything from your youth?
Option #2: What do you own that you treasure?
Option #3: What do you want to buy next for yourself and why?
That’s it. After you choose the option that best describes your possessions, take a few minutes to describe why you chose that option and what action, if any, may come next.
