NEXT Peace

Amen brother

Enjoy the noise

Semantics. It’s the cause for many disagreements. Even wars. Humans often discuss their want and need for peace. This kind of peace can be confusing because it does not really describe what the body desires. Humans really yearn for calm. Stay with me. Peace can still be noisy. Peace can be the smiles at the market, peace can be a cold drink of water, peace can be the joyful laughter of children playing. It does not require quiet. It should not have to be silent. If peace could be anything, it would be everything. Calm is different. Calm is a moment where a breath can be heard. Calm is that feeling of delight when the dishes are done. Calm is leaving school on the last day of the school year and knowing that there is a stretch of unclaimed time for staring. Calm works to decrease blood pressure. Calm is that deep reserve inside of you that calls out to you when you have overdone it. Calm can close its eyes. Peace needs eyes wide open.

Are you peaceful?

Option #1: Do you think others are calmer than you?

Option #2: Can you describe your vision of peace?

Option #3: What can you do to build up a sense of calm?

That’s it. After you choose the option that best describes how you feel when calm, take a few minutes to describe why you chose that option and what action, if any, may come next.
