NEXT Real Selfie

Say cheese

I see me over and over again

If you live through enough years of school or work, you might get someone to mentor you. These nice folks are supposed to judge you and train you to help you achieve those lofty goals in projects and reports. God bless them. They can hold a mirror up to us to show us those hidden parts that we remain unaware of. It would be great to see inside my ears sometimes. If this outside assistance is unavailable, it might be possible to just drag up some of those inner reserves to do the job also. Since the dawn of the selfie, humans have participated in the action of holding a camera up away from their faces and clicking in an attempt to capture a moment. Selfies don’t usually win awards though. The absurd thing to remember is that selfies weren’t commonplace until recent history. Photos were often static apprehensions that could be associated with illegal activities or remembrances. Those pictures were mounted in post offices, in frames or placed in albums as keepsakes. Because they weren’t taken very often, there was a specialness to them. That is how using your own devices to make progress without help feels also. Muscling through is not advice to be used all of the time. But when necessary, digging around inside might release some of that reserve selfie knowledge that does the trick. If you find yourself to be one of those humans that likes to walk alone, there is nothing wrong. It might even be that the path your journey is on requires learning this lesson. Travel is not required for all enlightenment. That precious magic is a part of all of us. And you will still look good.

Which button do I click?

Option #1: Do you think others are yearning to be included in your pictures?

Option #2: Can you stand to enjoy your own selfie?

Option #3: What can you do all by yourself?

That’s it. After you choose the option that best describes what you really look like, take a few minutes to describe why you chose that option and what action, if any, may come next.
