NEXT Shift

A silly millimeter

What is it going to take?

That gentle entrance last month to this season of life may have started you on a new method of thinking. Everything in your life should start with being about you consistently. If you start with you, it works out for everyone in the end. It might even create the type of atmosphere that tosses you off the martyr pedestal, out of hiding in your closet or free to walk in the sunshine just because you feel like it. Imagine that. It’s all about you. But it requires just the teeniest shift to see where to start. Really. To make a difference, a real difference, is probably as easy as closing your eyes and ears for a quick second and shifting. If you don’t look, it’s easier to accomplish. Shifting means that trust is involved. Self-trust. You understood how to pretend when you were little. Humans pretend to fix stuff. So, pretend a little.

Take Five

Each week this year, read through the suggestions and see how they call out to you.

  1. Before you go to sleep, imagine your life as your best friend.
  2. Eat all your favorite foods for one day.
  3. Change your wake-up or wind-down routine in a significant way.
  4. Wear only clothes you absolutely love.
  5. Shift your communication method by being silent as much as possible or talk way more than necessary.

Come back each day to see if something changes about the effect of an activity. Repeat choices to identify different thoughts. You are not the same person every day. Your life shouldn’t be either.

Live Alive.
