Handling Review

Humans do not always decide their futures. They decide their habits and their routines decide their futures. This month should seem familiar at times. This month we will review and focus on tactics that have popped up so far this year that form the basis of who we are becoming. Along the way, each month the focus spotlighted specific techniques on subjects that might need a little dust removal or introduction to our adult spirits. We don’t grow up overnight and tweaking the parts that get used up as we live each chapter of life gets postponed until a break occurs. This will be the month we work on maintenance tasks. This may seem boring, but it is actually the stuff that keeps the whole machine running smoothly.

Rituals

When you start something new, you give it meaning. Before you existed, no one knew what you looked like, sounded like or acted like. Your daily habits were established early on by watching the adults around you. You didn’t really have a say in the situation. Many daily activities are bounded by work and school. Humans work their lives around getting up in time for whatever required their participation. Farmers originally woke with the sun and slept when it got dark. Light was the primary influence because it was so precious to the tasks that needed to be completed. It seems a little odd that farmers were the first sun worshippers. But bakers rise early to prepare the food that likes to rest. Babies wake when they need a change, have empty bellies or want a cuddle. The sun has nothing to do with it.

Brain Change

Neuroscience shows that brains can physically and chemically change with each new thought or emotion experienced. When you adopt new habits or think about ways to look at life differently, the brain has a new spark. The matrix of doing everything the same every day is not ideal despite what we have been taught to believe. The brain likes to have something new to work with and that subtle shift also improves the rest of the rituals. Relying on having one way to make your day proceed is great when on autopilot but not so great when it gets stale. This month is a chance to review your habits and methods of efficiently and lovingly approaching your time. Thousands of books are available to describe the perfect way to start your day. They work for some but not for all. Only you will know what your rituals should look and feel like. Life is not supposed to be just a check off list.

Ctrl Alt Del

If you can act like something doesn’t exist, you can create it from scratch. Of course, you now have a better idea of what you want your life to feel like so your daily methods will be a better reflection of the new you. It seems easy to start with the time you wake up so don’t rely on the old habits as the best answer. The results of your new questions on handling the improved you should not be the old answers. This is your chance to be the creative artist of your life. Decisions on when to do what only have to be bounded by what you decide are requirements. This means that if you feel good about getting up with the sun, make it work. This also means that if your body feels better getting things done with all the lights on at night, you are on the right track. This is a chance to get on your track. Handle it.

Are you more farmer than you realize? Question the timing of your whole day. What do you want to update?
