I hear you

What did you say

Having a voice is a gift. Most humans have the ability to grunt, sing, speak or hum. This accessory is often used without a filter but actually can be improved over time. It has an endless variety of tones to add to its distinction. When we speak to others, our voice communicates more than information. Our feelings are shared as the melody that supports the language. The sound expresses the truth. That is why texts and emails can easily be misunderstood. The underlying voice of the sender is missing. The receiver can interpret these any way they choose. Voices can also heal. Consider the voice used for someone who is ill or grieving. The tenderness is the real message. A loving partner’s voice can be a whisper. A child’s voice can charm a parent. The journalist uses a report to convey facts with a straightforward voice. If you can remember the sound of your favorite teacher’s voice, you tend to remember how they impacted you. The sound of a voice is like the music of communication. The energy created by words goes into the universe. The harmony of good conversation can make a difference.

Speak out

Option #1: When did you last hear your own voice?

Option #2: Can you really control your tone?

Option #3: Is there music in what you say?

That’s it. After you choose the option that best describes your voice use, take a few minutes to describe why you chose that option and what action, if any, may come next.
