Shelve it all

Find the correct stack

Think about how you keep track of the stuff in your life. If there is adequate space, this should be easier. If there is limited space, decisions that involve what has to share space are made. Putting anything on top of something else ranks the bottom item in use or importance. If you have ever slept in bunk beds, you immediately understand. The top bunk is universally considered the better option. Typically, the older child gets this sleeping perk. Being afraid of heights is not usually considered a problem for children, so the younger person in the bottom bed is physically underneath. There is so much available to purchase with ease, that having an abundance of things is more normal. It actually takes some special skills to resist tantalizing objects. Humans who can afford to buy whatever they want are no more satisfied than those who cannot. The ability to be satisfied with the precious objects in your life might help you treat them like great art. You may deliberate a little longer before getting into the auction. The question is whether you will appreciate items more if you wait for them. There are some events that society expects there to be a waiting period. Weddings have engagements, divorces have separation time and driver’s licenses are not automatically doled out without a proof of ability. The time for gestation is unknown and that involves a real-life human life. Waiting time might not make owning things easier but if that time is used to review the why behind the acquisition, that might shed more light on whether to go ahead with the final decision.

Buy one Get one

Option #1: What did you last buy that you couldn’t do without?

Option #2: Do you have adequate room for all of your stuff?

Option #3: What do you still want to acquire for more satisfaction?

That’s it. After you choose the option that best describes your treatment of stuff, take a few minutes to describe why you chose that option and what action, if any, may come next.
