Ordinary Difference

I am Different

Most likely, if I didn’t grow up physically from that 9 year old inside of me, I would still be wearing a uniform every day. At that point in life, I was comfortable in that uniform and I didn’t have the resources to choose from a variety of outfits. I never had to think about what to wear so it wasn’t a problem.

Evidence of Difference

But I grew up and changed. Although it took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to say by the way I dressed and create my adult uniform of everyday wear, it is still based on comfort. If I am not satisfied with the way I feel when dressed, I might change clothes. I don’t mind being differently clothed if it suits me. This means there aren’t a lot of jeans and t-shirts in my life, but I don’t like them or feel confident in them.

You can feel Difference

This is a universal truth. There are times when we all feel different and it isn’t always pleasant and proud. That takes a big step at times and even a giant leap others. We can get feelings about those thoughts when we stand out or draw notice to ourselves if we don’t think we deserve the attention. Oddly, we all deserve attention, just not necessarily when we don’t want it.

Eliminate Boredom

Ordinary is good; ordinary is not mediocre. There’s a difference. Becoming the difference we want to be is extremely freeing. It elevates you to a place where there are fewer distractions and helps others to understand that it is actually okay to be not-the-same. Standing out is what creates your authenticity. Others can have all their thoughts about you that they want. The thoughts of others cannot be controlled by you. Give them up.

Can you be the person you deserve to be openly? Is it possible for you to find little ways to be more of your ordinary self and stand out? Can you embrace difference?
