That really works
Did you see that?
This might require a lengthy pause but once you find one of these, more come into view. Think about the last time you surprised yourself. This can be positive or negative. When you discover something that made you think about an unusual event that occurred in the normal course of events, you can review it to see how it happened and what the next step needs to be. If the surprise makes you smile, you might feel as if life is finally on the upswing for you. On the other hand, if there is more of a shock, the thinking cap warms up to figure out how to get back to normal. Neither event is really bad if you take into account that it produces change. When steps somehow get moved to a new path and the new destination is unknown, more attention is required not to get too lost. Lost involves danger in our brains. But arriving at a beautiful and unexpected place can be very pleasant. Time to ponder.
Take Five
Each week this year, read through the suggestions and see how they call out to you.
- What recently surprised you?
- How often are you surprised with yourself?
- How do you feel when you are forced to go a new way?
- What rationalization do you use to help accept change?
- Does listening to your own needs make you feel a certain way?
Come back each day to see if something changes about the effect of an activity. Repeat choices to identify different thoughts. You are not the same person every day. Your life shouldn’t be either.
