I don’t know you
All by Myself
If you took a poll, the number of humans who could use some alone time would astound you. This could easily be rationalized by the rapidity of life, how AI is going to affect the workload or the complexity of trying to figure out what to eat for dinner. Our brains treat all dilemmas the same. Humans burn precious squishy bits of our minds seeking enlightenment. But humans really want clear cut definition. Everything would be so much easier if there was just an easy-to-read manual. By the time this thought is clear, it is so late in the game that it can feel like there isn’t enough time left to really pursue what life should really mean. The clocks were tick, tick, ticking away all that time. The current time is available everywhere but knowing why it is so available is unknown. Humans are so complicated. Until broken down to just one. Trying to focus on the one that you have full access to makes it doable. You have to get alone with yourself. A whole bunch. This is no easy feat. But when done with determination, the real move. Breaking down the barrier to your individual self is the greatest gift no one else can give you.
Take Five
Each week this year, read through the suggestions and see how they call out to you.
- Do you have uninterrupted time without work or play?
- What are you trying to avoid when you over schedule?
- How do you go about removing parts of life?
- How can you ease into the feeling of being by yourself?
- What do you do to choose what to do alone?
Come back each day to see if something changes about the effect of an activity. Repeat choices to identify different thoughts. You are not the same person every day. Your life shouldn’t be either.
