Frightfully delightful

Think about your most recent dream that could have been a nightmare. The mind works through junk while humans sleep in a bold attempt to settle up the scary stuff that happens in life. Deep inside each of our spirits is a secret portal. Just because you haven’t thought about it yet does not mean it is not there. That secret vault is where you hide those hideously dark thoughts that crop up and roam freely in our brains even when we haven’t chosen to have them. Most humans don’t want to have to remember frightening dreams in the morning when they are concentrating on getting a better night of sleep to avoid the daytime scary stuff. Humans are fragile beings. Loud noises make us jump. Speeding cars abruptly steal our careful concentration on where we are heading. The price of a hamburger with fries must have increased when attention was focused elsewhere. Each of us has that place where these inner thoughts are housed. They are generally safe because we don’t like to examine them often and don’t have free time to really deal with them. The portal is dark, and they can lurk there until they want to come up for air. But when they do pop up, be gentle. No one needs to get hit over the head with a hammer. Knowing that these shady thoughts are all ours can sometimes make them more acceptable. They might have a message that we need to hear.

What scares you?

Option #1: Do you think others are as frightened as you are?

Option #2: Can you change your feelings about the dark side of you?

Option #3: What can you do to lighten up?

That’s it. After you choose the option that best describes what makes you scared, take a few minutes to describe why you chose that option and what action, if any, may come next.
