There are no seats left
Is that a cloud?
It’s not a popular belief but a great thought experiment. What if this was heaven? Many humans grow up hearing about this place we might get to visit if we live a certain way. Whatever it was called, it seemed to resemble the greatest all-inclusive resort possible. The weather was perfect year-round, any food you can think of was available, the clothing fit well and everyone was in the bestest mood. You didn’t even have to leave a credit card for incidentals. If you can ponder that idea, it seems pretty far away from the here and now. That brings me to where I now think heaven is. There is time associated with my heaven. It is exactly 6:48 AM. My swimming set is finished. My water PT went well and an extra couple of minutes of fluid running snuck in at the end. My knees never hurt. And I still feel as if I could swim more. But I don’t. I top it off with floating for 25 yards on my back, stretching and meditating while I drift along. There are no deep thoughts. It is heaven for me. I repeat this as often as I can in my life. But sometimes I have pain in my knees, or I am still tired because my on and off insomnia kicked in on the previous night. I might just want to get out of the pool and get the rest of the day started. I consider meditating longer that evening. Heaven can wait. Now, to you. You have probably not yet considered this place. It may take some time to figure out. But where is your heaven? Describing it begins to make it your real. Your real is easier to believe in. Your real is meant just for you. Your real is possible. Down here on earth.
Take Five
Each week this year, read through the suggestions and see how they call out to you.
- Do you know what heaven for you looks like?
- What are you trying to do well in this life for your next?
- Who told you there was something better than this life?
- How can you consider life differently?
- What do you want to take from today to tomorrow?
Come back each day to see if something changes about the effect of an activity. Repeat choices to identify different thoughts. You are not the same person every day. Your life shouldn’t be either.
