It’s History

This might haunt you a little, but it’s a useful one to refer to you when you need it. Time took on a new designation for me a while back. I had seen the term BC thousands of times in my life and knew the reference point for history. But it wasn’t my history. My BC was the designation I gave to the time prior to my cancer diagnosis. Get it, before cancer. I thought it was a devious way for me to separate that definitive moment of separating the stages of my physical life. There was my life before and there is my life after. Yes, biopsies, surgery and treatments all had dates also. But not like the exact day when stuff in my head changed. I have lived on but haven’t moved into AC because there is no after. Not really. There is mostly a waiting for the next shoe to drop. But this cutoff can be given to all kinds of events that take on those time alternating eclipses. Your BC may be prior to marrying, having a child, going bankrupt or realizing that life may or may not be all you expected. It isn’t always bright or dark; it’s just a point. When we think of it as a negative, it becomes that. When we think of it as the best of all worlds, that might be true. It might even swap sides as life progresses. Moving on can change prospectives. I am firmly in a post adjustment phase because that gives me options. I am even grateful for the possibility of AC. Many humans will tell you that getting answers beats wondering. Some days I believe that. Most days really. That leaves me open to more days that don’t have clear references to my time.

You are Extraordinary!

Week 30: Time is on my side

Coaching opened my brain to options. Illness pushed me to get stronger. Not knowing what will show up in the future is a whole new dream to ponder. Death will occur for all of us. The surprise is the exact event. Even if the time is closely calculated, the rest is still in our after-knowledge box. If you have had a BC or an AC, you have been given a strange gift. The chapter changed. It is time to start writing the rest.
