I missed something
Our bodies notice things long before our minds catch up. Not the dramatic things — the quiet ones. The tension we ignore. The breath we forget to take. The way our shoulders slowly rise toward our ears without us realizing it. We like to think we’re thinking our way through life, but most days, we’re feeling our way through it — even when we don’t notice. The body keeps its own kind of record. Not a loud one. A quiet score. It’s not trying to warn us or scare us. It’s just trying to tell the truth. These aren’t random. They’re messages — subtle, physical reminders that something inside us is asking for attention. But we’re good at overriding them. We push through. We stay busy. We tell ourselves we’re fine. Meanwhile, the body keeps whispering. The body remembers what the mind tries to move past too quickly. It just speaks in a language we forget to listen to. A language of warmth and tightness. Of ease and discomfort. Of energy and depletion.
You are Extraordinary!
Week 38: Stand up straight
When we pay attention, even a little, we start to understand ourselves in a deeper way — not through analysis, but through awareness. The body keeps the quiet score. Not to burden us, but to guide us. To remind us that we’re not just thinking beings. We’re feeling beings, too. And sometimes the most ordinary act of care is simply listening to the part of us that has been speaking the whole time. Peering into the past provides clues that were either dismissed or put off. They are invaluable. Look back and see what you should have noticed in the past. I know that I have missed many signals; or at least that is what I told myself. Some I didn’t want to deal with and didn’t.
