Courage hides somewhere
This is one of those occasional blogs that sticks out because it has lasting value. And it isn’t a fast fix. That means that no matter how much you want to do it or how much you need to do it, you might not do it. That is actually what lies at the base of this fix. You have to look for something inside of you that is probably buried. Making myself do something is tricky and there are multiple ways to accomplish this feat. That’s right, there is not just one. I do rely on not asking whether I want to exercise. There is rarely a loud yes, so why bother asking. I don’t wonder if I want to go to work on time. Again, that’s a just do it situation. But let’s forget about what we did before and search differently. I think looking for a fearless whynot might crank up the fun. The depth of my feelings about a subject can remind me that it takes courage to snoop around my heart and mind. Being capable of anything is not a thought that I lean into enough. Asking whynot in the right tone amps up the enjoyment. This won’t solve all of my needs but starting to put it into more rotation can help me hear myself better. There may even be some sassy rejoinders.
You are Extraordinary!
Week 25: Fear much less
Many people can identify with an emphatic yes when they want to appear obliging. Cooperative. Really into something somebody has cooked up. This ongoing reminder task is to decide for yourself. What clues can you look for to let you know something is right for you? Lower the fear level. Grind it down to only demonstrate where you really need to turn. Not wanting to be cooperative is a good sign that something does not make sense yet. And I only say yes because it shouldn’t be an automatic no either. It is undecided. Until it isn’t.
